Chemical Constituents from Hexane Crude Extracts of Artocarpus thailandicus Leaves (Moraceae)
Abstract
The dried powder leaves of Artocarpus thailandicus was extracted with hexane at room temperature. The isolation of natural products from hexane crude extracts of Artocarpus thailandicus leaves were carried out by column chromatography over silica gel 60 and eluted with 0% - 100% ethyl acetate in hexane to give 8 fractions. Fraction 5 was further purified by column chromatography over silica gel 60 and eluted with 20% ethyl acetate in hexane to give one pure compound. One isolated compound was obtained as the white needle after recrystallization by hexane with melting point 214 – 215 °C. The structure of the compound was identified by 1 H NMR, 13C NMR, DEPT-90 and DEPT-135 techniques using Nuclear Magnetic Resonance technique. The spectra of this compound were compared to the spectra from previous work. The result indicated that this compound is Lupeol. Keywords : Artocarpus thailandicus, LupeolReferences
